Parents

Parent Teacher Association (PTA) 

The PTA:

  • advocates for students and families

  • updates parents and families about the school

  • plans and runs activities for parents and families

PTAs can support schools in a number of ways, including:

  • hosting parent workshops

  • organizing activities for families—both academic and social

  • raising funds

  • running volunteer events

PTA Meetings are held monthly on Thursdays at 5:30 PM.

Members:

All of the following are automatically members of their school’s PA/PTA:

  • Parents

  • Step-parents

  • Legally appointed guardians

  • Foster parents

  • Persons in parental relation

Officers:

Officers of a PA/PTA are responsible for the PA/PTA budget, events and activities. Officers are elected by membership annually.

School Leadership Team (SLT)

The School Leadership Team (SLT) is a group of people who develop educational policies for their school. They also make sure there are resources to support those policies.

The SLT:

  • Provides ongoing evaluations of a school’s educational programs and their impact on student achievement.

  • Plays an important role in school-based decision-making

  • Helps to make school cultures more collaborative.

School Leadership Team meetings occur every month and are open to all community members.
